For #Mental-IllnessClub stamp contest. I saw the topic of hope and wanted to try out something. Then this old sentence cross my head - and it's so true. Never saw on any stamp on dA yet (I searched for it) so I'm trying it out.
"Hope is the last one to die" (A esperança é a última que morre) it's actually a very common sentence. I'm not sure where it's common too, but where I live, it is. I think it's really important to believe on it when you're passing on a mental illness. Any of them. Especially those who affect our humour or how we view things (such as depression or similar, I'm saying depression 'cause it's my experience). Even if you say your hope is dead, it isn't true. I believe hope only dies when you die with it. That's what I think anyway...
I wanted to share it with the club Don't upload much things on there, witch I would like, since I want to support people with it since mental illness is a very delicate subject and I'm with one and I'm overcoming it bit by bit. I wish everybody overcomes it too.
Really simple but meh. The idea is what counts. I wanted more to participate then go thinking of winning or anything...
Haha, have you maybe read Greek mythology? In Greek mythology, Hope was in a jar along with several other things in a box (that wasn't even a box, it was a pithois, a jar), and the jar's keeper Pandora was too curious and let out everything in the jar, and it contained things like death, plague, famine... things that that plague us to this day, and hope was the last thing that stayed in the jar.
Your stamp totally reminded me of that myth, which is amazing ^^ I like this stamp, Greek Mythology aside.
Oh my god you're right. I was quite the greek mythology nerd back then, I used to love to read so much, nowadays I don't remember much of it by heart but still love it so much <3 And that's probably where the proverb came from! Thanks for the light 8D My stamp is simply my translation from where I heard it + putting it up on the internet XD (I originally heard it in Portuguese, it's very common over here)
Thank you! Haha, I've heard that quote as long as I can remember, so I didn't even think there wasn't stamp with it XD asuhdgaoudghj My Spain icon is sooo cute, I love *rukaxxx for making those!
